DBA Four Comers Materials (formerly Durango Construction) bas applied to <br />the Colorado Msned Land Reclamation Board for permission to excavate a pond on property owned by the <br />Bryce and Thompson families. The propeRy is known as the Thomas Pit Notice to you is required, as <br />your property is adjacent to the property on which the pond is to be excavated. Enclosed with fhis letter is <br />the required legal notice. <br />The proposed pond is to be located on a terrace above the river, and will incorporate the abandoned <br />Whispering Pines waste treatment ponds, and the process water settling pond used by the former operators <br />of the pit The area of the proposed pond is approxitately 4 acres, with approximately throe acres <br />proposed to be water surface area The exposed banks would t>e topsoiled and seeded. Prior to the pond <br />excvaton, stabilization and re vegetation of a portion of the riverbank will occur. Plans for the <br />stabilization work are being finalized with the Army Corps of Engineers, Division of Minerals and <br />Geology, Department of Wildlife, and La Plata County. <br />The proposed mining activity is a one time event, to begin in the spring of 2002, and be completed by the <br />end of June of 2002. AU material excavated from the pond would be [tucked off site for processing at <br />another location <br />The wmplete application package, including maps and detailed plans of the proposed excavation are <br />available at our office, the La Plata County Clerk's Office, and at the Division of Minerals and Geology <br />office.
