DESERADO MINE C-81-018
Dear Ms. Binns:
Under new regulations for UST, Western Fuels-Utah, Inc., hereby applies for a minor revision in
order to remove a 2,000 gallon underground storage tank located behind the shop maintenance
building near the D-portal area. The tank must be removed in order to comply with strict
regulations for leak detection and monitoring for groundwater contamination.
A tank removal plan has been submitted to the Colorado Department of Health and also the State
Inspector of Oils. We plan to remove the tank on September 18 and have it cleaned and painted
in order for it to be used as a surface waste oil tank. This tank will be concrete bermed (see
Drawing DWFU-No.0239A). The berm will be 24' x 12' x 2-1/2'high. A total of 20 yards of
concrete will be used. Ten yards in floor and 10 yards in the concrete walls (or concrete cinder
block). If concrete blocks are used, a total of 10 cubic yards of concrete will be poured in order
to meet spill prevention requirements. A 750-gallon new anti-freeze solution steel tank will be
purchased and installed with the waste oil tank. These tanks will be located near the southwest
corner of the shop maintenance building.
Suite #i05
405 Urban Srreet
Lakewood, Colorado 80??8
Telephone 303x988-96'6
Telecopier 3o3r986 8147
