DOW C~LO SPP.INGS TEL: 719-473-4060 May 23,90 1:47 No .006 P.05
disturbed land that will be re-mined to the same landfo m described
for the permit area at large.
~_
2. Missing.

3. The Division recommends that application of tops it Por the
grassland community average 6 inches. The remain'ng topsoil
should be applied to the forested communities at d pths of 12-
18 inches.
The recommendation has been incorporated into the recla tion plan.
4. The Reclamation Plan Map shows that the entire ermit area
will be reclaimed to grassland, forest or w er. The
narrative indicates that some areas will not be replanted.
Correct the Reclamation Plan Map to show the area that will
and will not be revegetated.
The requested changes were made.
5. Some of the mine area has not been previously di turbed and
topsoil will be stripped before mining. The s lvaging of
topsoil is very important, since topsoil has been ost in the
past. Topsoil stripping and stockpiling has been described.
Please describe topsoil handling in regards to reel cement and
spreading that will minimize topsoil loss.
The requested discussion has been provided as a part of Exhibit E.
6. The proposed grass seed mix is suited to the Alma P acer-Site.
However, the number of species should be increase to insure
that a diverse community of grasses will establish. A general
recommendation would be to include at least six pecies of
native and adapted introduced grasses in the mix A grass
seed mix developed by Climax Molybdenum Company kn wn as the
Climax Mix, would be suited to the Alma Placer Site This mix
is known by the local seed industry and is availab e. A copy
of information about the Climax Mix is attached ( ttachment
No. 1). If the Climax Mix is used, the Divi ion would
recommend not including the Rye (Secale cerea s), since
irrigation will be used for establishment. The Di ision can
provide assistance with developing another suitabl seed miX
if desired.
Reclamation Resources appreciates the input. The reclamation plan
now provides for use of the "Climax Mix" and this Chang has been
reflected through an increase in reclamation costs and ondinq.
7. The Reclamation Plan states that it may be impra~
drill the seed in small areas to be reclaimed.
