n
U
• EXHIBIT D
IdIPdING PLAN
~,
The proposed mining plan is a continuation of the
Bettger Sand and Gravel operation conducted in this area
since 1970. As in the past the mining will be conducted
by the two Bettger brothers using dozers and front-end
loaders to move all material. It is anticipated that
the area will be mined as shown in Exhibit C, in five
phases over the next ten years.
Work in the Phase I area will commence in the
Spring of this year with the removal and storage of
• the topsoil. Based on Soil Conservation Service report
(Exhibit I) an average of eight inches of topsoil
should be found throughout the area. This material will
be stored along the north boundary of the permit area
protected from contamination by its location. Should
the topsoil stockpiles remain for more than one year, a
quick-growing cover crop will be planted to minimize
erosion. ~ U'~ ~^^~
Overburden lying between the topsoil and the market-
able sand and gravel will be used to assist the back-
filling operation in Area B of previously permitted
operation.
Each of the remaining phases will be approached in
• a similar manner with the topsoil removed and salvaged
