Mining within 100 feet of the County Road - Please
refer to page 38, paragraph XXIII, Operations on Lands
Subject to Limitations or Prohibitions, of the Px•oposed
Decision and Findings of Compliance, for Twin Pines Permit,
prepared by the Division.
12). Operations Information on Twin Pines Coal Sales Area -
The information requested has been included on the Twin
Pines Coal Sales Map and page 73 of the application.
13). Coal Sales Area, Permit Boundaries - The Coal Sales
Area was permitted and bonded in 1977. The 1977 boundary and
the proposed new boundary were shown on the map as the bond
for the original permit had not been released at the time of
the submission of the Twin Pines No. 2 Mine application. The
revised map of the Coal Sales Area shows the correct permit
boundary.
Roads - Rules 2.05.3(3) and 4.03
14). Twin Pines Coal Sales, Tipple Access Road - The revised
Coal Sales Map shows contours for the road in question. The
road was in place since the 1950's with the exception of the
turn around ramp at the west end of the road. The road was
cut for access to the original Twin Pines entry. Generally
the cut is in sandstone shale strata which has posed very
little problem other than minor sloughing in the past 35
years. A retaining wall was constructed in 1984 at the truck
unloading area adiacent to the tipple. A geotechnical
analysis of the road cut would not be warranted at this
time. Approximately 3 truck loads of coal pex• week are
delivered on this road.
15). Access Roads, Haul Roads, etc. - Whether the roads are
defined as access roads, haul roads, or ramps the question
is are they adequate for the intended use. Twin Pines does
not intend to reconstruct the roads as they are adequate for
their present and intended use. They have served the public
and the mine without problems for the past seven years of
operation.
Ponds, Impoundments, Diversions - Rules 2.05.3 and 4.05
16). Stipulation 12
17). Design Specifications for Coal Sales Pond - The pond
was designed by the Soil Conservation Service, prior to the
3
