Ivanhoe Street <br />Denver, Colorado 80222 <br />Re: Morrison Quarry Expansion Application <br />Our File No. 73-2I <br />Dear Mr. Rindahl: <br />I have reviewed the above application for adequacy and have the following <br />questions, comments, and suggestions which are intended to aid you in bringing <br />this application into full compliance with the law and to the satisfaction <br />of the Mined Land Reclamation Board. Please address each item in detail. <br />This is without comments from the State Engineer's office which will be <br />forwarded to you upon receipt. <br />Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan <br />1. Now will the benches be sloped to maximize moisture retention and minimize <br />erosion? A cross-section of a typical bench may aid in addressing this issue. <br />2. Why is Rocky Mountain Red Cedar not included in the revegetation plan? <br />Red Cedar is a major species on the site and is included in the vegetation mix <br />for the previously permitted area. <br />3. Wi11 erosion matting be used if necessary? <br />4. Will the trees and shrubs be planted in a pattern similar to that shown <br />in Exhibit b3 of the 1981 annual report? <br />5. Will the slopes in the pond be in accordance with the provisions of Rule <br />6.1 (f)? <br />6. What will limit the size of the pond? <br />7. The staff is somewhat confused as to the final reclamation of Strain Gulch. <br />Please discuss, in detail, the final reclamation of Strain Gulch (referencing <br />the alternatives mentioned in the original application, if applicable). <br />
