Mount, Senior Reclamation Specialist
FROM: Bill McIntyre, Senior Professional Engineer
SUBJECT: Sanborn Sand & Gravel Inc., Gloria Z Mine, Pernlit No. M-84-094
Revised Review Comments
On July 20, 1993, this office responded to your request for comments. A copy of our memorandum
is attached for your reference. Subsequently, the picture depicting the mining operation was found
to be inconclusive based upon discussions with our field personnel, Water Commissioner Denise
Paprocki of Fairplay. The photo appazently shows groundwater being intercepted and thus exposed
to the atmosphere.
However, Ms. Paprocki explained that the pit is a dry pit and therefore does not intercept
groundwater. The water in the photo is piped from a surface diversion structure and is part of the
mining process. With the incorporation of this additional information, our office recommends
approval of the current operation.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this matter.
Enc.: July 20, 1993 memorandum
cc: Alan Berryman, Division Engineer
Denise Paprocki, Water Commissioner, Water liistrict 23
Rich Bell
wctvjntvsannorrrz.wcm
Cs~o y a/ . <.fY}.~
~ ~~
~~~~
~a
,6v
l
2
