Reference to previous plans should only be for historical purposes. For purposes of
determining compliance with the plan, this document is the one that should be used. If previous
plans are referred to and an attempt is made to coordinate this plan with those plans in order to
• determine compliance, the result will be confusion. The provisions of the previous plans that are
compatible with this plan have been included into this plan. But anything that was included in a
previous plan that is now considered to be bad practice or is simply incompatible with this plan has
been deleted from this plan.
Key Points
• • • Some of the permit boundaries have been altered from the existing permit.
^ The permit boundary no longer extends along Drennan Road east from Academy
Boulevard, ezcept for the northwest corner of the parcels located east of Academy Boulevard (part of
Phase lE-north). That area is included only for the purposes of reclaiming the disturbances created
when the irrigation ditch was placed under Academy Boulevard. The relocation of that ditch was a
major part of the 1985 amendment to both Castle Concrete's Sand Pit and to the Daniels Sand Pit A2
permits.
• Mining on the east side of Academy Boulevard will be restricted to the land south of an
east-west line located 480 feet south of Drennan Road. The land between the pit and Drennan Road
will be reserved for possible future development as Drennan Road frontage property. This is a major
change in the existing permit. The existing permit calls for mining to Drennan Road in the
• northwest and northeast portions of the permit area located east of Academy Boulevard. That is no
longer part of the plan.
• • • East of Academy Boulevard, the irrigation ditch will be moved to extend along the northern
limit of the mining area. When the ditch reaches the eastern side of the permit it will turn south to
rejoin the existing ditch route.
• • • The final topography to be produced on both sides of Academy Boulevard will be essentially
level land surrounded by slopes with a maximum gradient of 3:1.
• • • Early in the process screening trees will be planted along the top of the new ditch route east
of Academy Boulevard. Trees will also be planted along Bradley Road just east of the Bradley
Road/Academy Boulevard interchange. These trees should be quite large if not near full size before
their effectiveness is actually needed.
• • • The processing plant will be moved from the west side of Academy Boulevard to the east
side of Academy Boulevard once the mining on the east side has progressed to the point where there
is sufficient room to move the plant. This will allow the eventual closure of the approximately 120
acres of work area on the west side of Academy Boulevard long before the operation is actually
completed on the east side of Academy. However, the batch plant near the railroad tracks west of
Academy Boulevard will probably not be moved.
•
IntroductionlOverview Page IIO-2
