Because of the scazce cover material available on the gravel outcrop, reclamation of the Phase II <br />Pit can occur concurrently with mining after approximately 235,000 tons of gravel aze produced. <br />This initial production period from the Phase II Pit would last approximately 4 yeazs. As the <br />mining advances in an easterly direction, cover material will be trucked directly from the azea <br />stripped to the reclaimed azea, graded to final contours and then re-seeded. Refer to Exhibit F, <br />Reclamation plan for reclamation sequence. <br />The material removed from the pit will be hauled to a portable crushing and screening unit by the <br />frontend-loader as it is removed from the pit. This crushing and screening plant will size the <br />gravel material and direct it to stockpiles for reloading and hauling off-site. The screening and <br />crushing plant will be powered by a portable dieseUelectric generating set with a 350 gallon fuel <br />tank, positioned neazby. The operator has no plans for an office, but will have a truck trailer <br />cohverted to a material shed located neazby the crusher and material removal operation. A <br />portable sanitation facility ("porta-potti") will be located neaz the supply trailer. A 1500 gallon <br />fuel storage tank for fueling equipment and the generator fuel storage tank will be located in <br />appropriate bermed and plastic lined containments. All of the above equipment is portable and <br />will be relocated (always kept on disturbed areas) as the mining face advances to reduce loader <br />cycle times and facilitate reclamation. <br />Any hazardous materials/petroleum products stored in the storage trailer will be stored in a <br />containment cabinet designed for the purposed of providing primary containment of spills. <br />A semi portable truck scale will be installed near the property entrance along the haulage road <br />neaz its intersection with the Redvale Road. This scale will be mounted on three concrete piers <br />measuring 18"wide x 12"high x 8'long. <br />Excavation of the gravel pit will create neazly vertical advancing and side slopes. The side slopes <br />will be reduced to a 2.Sh:ly or flatter slope before topsoil is applied and graded to depth. The <br />advancing face of the pit will also be reduced to a 2.Sh:ly or flatter slope as the pit is exhausted. <br />Care will be taken to keep all activities and disturbance within the projected pit disturbance <br />boundaries. <br />A lazge portion of the projected disturbance aze within areas where the vegetation can be <br />characterized as noxious weeds and cheat grass. Noxious weeds on the permit area will be <br />controlled per the Weed Control plan included in Exhibit J -Vegetation. <br />A small portion of the Phase III area is interspersed with wetland species. The applicant does not <br />believe this small area is a jurisdictional wetland due to the influence of irrigation water. The <br />letter from the Corps of Engineer, located in Exhibit J, confirms that the wetland is not <br />jurisdictional. <br />The gravel deposit lies directly on a sandstone shelf. This sandstone has been determined to be an <br />aquifer. Drilling indicates ground water maybe present in the lower 10 feet of the gravel deposit. <br />Mining experience will dictate to what depth the gravel deposit maybe removed without <br />disturbing this ground water. If ground water is encountered, pit floor projections will be revised <br />to maintain a minimum of 2 feet of undisturbed material above the ground water. <br />D-2 <br />
