Co., Inc. I have lived in the rural setting of Tunnel Drive
for ten years. I bought my home because of the surrounding beauty,
abundant wildlife, and because it had the resources I needed to
train my horses and teach riding lessons, which I have enjoyed for
many years. I loved Tunnel Drive when I first saw it. It is on
several tourest maps that the Chamber of Commerce puts out. It is
the geological entrance to the Royal Gorge.
There was truck traffic here before, but nothing like we have now.
The volume and intensity have increased significantly since Mr.
Tezac has aquired the quarry. Trucks are overloaded, sometimes
spilling their cargo out onto the road, burying it. They travel
much too fast. A few ^onths ago I was waiting for a truck to pass
before turning into my driveway; a rock flew off the truck, my
windshield was cracked. Mr. Tezak paid to have it repaired but
I now pull off the road whenever I feel threatened by an overloaded
screaming truck barreling towards me onto the other side of narrow
Tunnel Drive.
Another problem I would like to address is the lack of safety. I
have stopped taking my riding students on trail rides because we
have ~o ride with the truck tra8fi~, which can spook the horses
very easily, especially with the noise of screeching brakes.
