LnnR <br /> Division Director <br />Re: Coal Ridge No. 1 Mine (Permit No. C-84-065) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 15 <br />Clarify Reclamation Success Standards & Eliminate Woody Stem Density Standards <br />Dear Mr. Morse: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Atticle 33, Section L l6, <br />Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on March 3, 1998, an application to revise coal mining operations <br />at the Coal Ridge No. 1 Mine was considet>'d complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by <br />NCIG Financial, Inc.. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this <br />date of filing. <br />Stipulation #27 of the permit required that the vegetation success standards for the Coal Ridge No. I Mine be <br />clarified. The revision also intends to eliminate the woody stem density standards completely and change the species <br />diversity standard. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 7 miles west of Glenwood Springs, <br />Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />T65, R91 W; Portions of Sections 1 and 12 <br />T6S, R90W; Portions of Sections 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 15 and 16 <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Storm King Mountain and <br />New Castle. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Ga~eld County Courthouse, 109 <br />8th St Ste 200, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601, and at the Division office. For additional information or to provide <br />written comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, <br />Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments <br />be submitted within fifteen (15) days of this letter.
