The topsoil will be stripped from the gullies, however it is not expected to yield
much usable topsoil. This is due to the soil being intermixed with cobbles. All
sediment sumps will be routinely cleaned. This sediment will be used for
reclamation purposes. All woody vegetation will be removed from the site,
mulched, or burned. As stated in the application, all fill will be uniform in nature
and well compacted.
Prior to piacement topsoil will be tested to determine if soil amendments will be
necessary. This will be especially important for the irrigated field portion of the
reclamation.
The grout will create a solid channel which needs no underlying geotextile. By its
nature a grouted rip-rap channel is non-erosive much like a concrete channel. The
grouted channel was selected over standard rip-rap channels with geotextile due to
the steep slopes and predicted peak flows.
Secondary containment for fuel and other fluids will be impermeable in nature.
This will either be in the form of double walled tanks or a HDPE impermeable
liner. Due to the high viscosity of asphalt cement gravel is considered impereable
for this material.
Slopes will be shaped using bulldozers to push material up the slope or down the
slope. Once final slopes have been completed a uniform layer of topsoil will be
applied in the same fashion.
3.) Exhibit E Due to the steepness of the slopes the mulch will need to be crimped along the
slope. Another possible solution would be to hyrdo-mulch the slopes using a
tackifier.
The following is the weed control plan for the Cugnini Pit.
Russian Knapweed
Use Tordon and 24D at a rate of 1 Quart each per acre. Apply in September/early
October, then return in June to treat spots of knapweed as they appeaz.
Musk Thistle
Use Tordon at a rate of 1 Pint to 1 Quart per acre, every-other year. Apply in
spring or fall. For plants near the pinon/juniper trees, use Redeem or 24D,
applying in May or June.
White Top
Apply Telar and 24D in May, as needed.
Evaluate weed conditions in May or June of each year.
