Following are Somerset's
responses to the Division's additional questions and comments.
1) -8) No response required.
9) Page 2.05-46iii was revised to clarify the monitoring
requirements for the springs.
10) - 13) No response required.
14a - c) A detailed report, titled Water Communication Potential
From Overlying Workings at the Sanborn Creek Mine, was
submitted to the Division under separate cover. As a
result of the recommendations of this report, the mine
plans have been revised. Mining recovery under old
workings known to be flooded will be limited to 50$.
MSHA indicated to the Division that it would not approve
and mine plan that would retreat mine under flooded
workings. I do not believe that MSHA would consider a
mine plan with a recovery factor of 508 to be "retreat
mining".
Drill hole WSC DH12 located in the Hawksnest Mine was
determined to be dry. Map 5-044 shows the area of the
Hawksnest Mine that is "known to be dry" based on DH12
monitoring. It is not known if the areas to the
northeast of this line are flooded but it is assumed they
are. Mining panels in the Sanborn Creek Mine (1st - 4th
West and 1st - 5th East) will be restricted to 508
