O'Connor MINED~AND <br />Reclamation Specialist RECLAMA710Np{y~9-ON <br />Mined Land Reclamation Division <br />423 Centennial Building <br />1313 Sherman Stceet <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />Re: File M-83-141 Cash Mine Permit Amendment <br />Dear Peter: <br />On the evening of Thursday, September 19, 1985, a meeting <br />was held at the Gold Hill School from approximately 8 p.m. until <br />11 p.m. The purpose of the meeting was to address community <br />concerns about the Cash Mine permit amendment. <br />Present were approximately 40 residents of Gold Hill and <br />surrounding areas. The meeting, which was chaired by Objector <br />Robert N. Mason, was also attended by Mr. Steen, his mine <br />manager, his construction foreman and his attorneys. T attended <br />the meeting in my capacity as the Secretary of the Boulder County <br />Metal Mining Mining Association. Also present was Tom Hendricks, <br />the President of the Association. <br />During the course of the evening, a detailed explanation of <br />the operation of the mining and milling facilities was presented <br />by Mr. Steen and his advisors. Several dozen questions from the <br />audience were addressed covering, among others, the following <br />areas: <br />- Ground water hydrology of the Gold Hill area. <br />- Mill water usage and recovery. <br />- Tailings disposal and reclamation. <br />- Traffic Patterns. <br />- Noise Pollution. <br />- Potential for opening other area mines. <br />- Water supply plan for the mine/mill. <br />- The Milling Process. <br />- Underground water storage. <br />- On site water treatment plant. <br />- Nature of underground blasting. <br />
