Box 656 <br />Cortez, CO 81321 <br />Dear Mr. Goode, <br />FAGE 01 <br />i am enclosing the requested information and recommendations Por the <br />reclamation of the proposed site of your gravel pit in section 13, <br />Township 37 N, Range 15 W (+/-a0 acres.) The landowner is LMN <br />Properties. The site is planned for dryland pasture upon completion <br />oP the project. This reclaimation plan will apply to areas that have <br />initiated mining activities and additional areas upon any movement of <br />topsoil. The reclaimation process shall be completed following the <br />extraction phase of the Gardner 2 pit (approximately 20 year period, <br />depending on the market of the gravel products.) soils maps and soils <br />descriptions for Exhibit I have previously bean provided to Brian <br />Kimmel, Southwest Land Services, who have been retained by you as <br />consultants far this application. site inventory for the Vegetative <br />Inventory Exhibit J is based on the area on the north point but the <br />vegetation had been scraped off so vegetation ie based on adjacent <br />areas and the Pine Grasslands range site description. Exhibit x, <br />Climatic data is also included with this report. I de not foresee any <br />adverse environmental impacts provided reclamation of the site is <br />completed as planned. <br />A. initial Excavation and Topsoilingy <br />Topsoil shall be stockpiled during the extraction phase of the project <br />and upon completion, shall be replaced to a depth oP 6 to 12 inches of <br />cover. IP stockpiled topsoil does not adequately cover reclaimed area <br />to required depth, contaminant-free topsoil will need to be brought in <br />to augment the on-site supply. spreading shall not be done when the <br />ground or topsoil is frozen, excessively wet or otherwise in a <br />condition detrimental to the work. After placement is complete, the <br />topsoil surface shall be Finished to a reasonably smooth surface. <br />B. Seedbed Preaaratian and Pl~antina: <br />See enclosed CO-ECS-5, Grass Seeding Planned. Seedbed will be clean <br />tilled and weed free. Apply 40 pounds per acre of available nitrogen <br />fertilizer (disc or harrow into the soil) during the last operation oP <br />seedbed preparation. Allow approximately 2 weeks to 1 month following <br />last operation for soil to settle and firm up. Planting will be done <br />with a grass drill or modified grain drill with depth hands or packer <br />wheels. Depth of seed placement shall not exceed i inch.
