' EXHIBIT D (Cont'd)
During the mining operations a 20-foot berm will be con-
' strutted along the east and southeast side of the operation. This
berm will screen from view most of the visual impact that might
occur from this operation. The berm will also function as a
' storage area for overburden and topsoils which will be used later
in the reclamation plan and will serve to stop any potential
' surface drainage from going into Upper Long Lake. See map
Exhibit D-1 for location of berm. Below is a sketch of the cross-
' sectional area of the berm.

10'
3
West to East
~ / 2~.
Pit floor
1 50' S0
'
Mining equipment used may include, but is not limited to,
bulldozers, front-end loaders, scrapers, conveyor, dump trucks,
water trucks and drilling machines.
1 The basalt dike that is being mined by Asphalt Paving Company
extends to the basement rock.
