No backfilling is planned in the existing pit.
The existing and proposed pits will be excavated to a level approximately 2 feet above
the expected groundwater elevation. Wet mining will only occur after all necessary
augmentation plans, water supply plans, and/or gravel pit well permits have been
obtained. Both the Mining and Reclamation maps show the expected top and bottom
contours as well as the intermediate "working bench" that will be utilized when wet
mining is in progress. It is planned to mine to the proposed backslopes, thus minimizing
backfilling operations.
Topsoil stockpiles are now depicted on the Mining Plan Map. These stockpiles will be
located on the working bench in the amended area.
Exhibit D -Mining Plan (Rule 6.4.4)
As stated above, wet mining will only occur after all necessary augmentation plans, water
supply plans, and/or gravel pit well permits have been obtained.
