BANTA, Director
January 4, 1989
Mr. John Schmahl
2301 Ri ver Road
Grand Junction,
Colorado 81505
RE: Surface Rock Quarry Amendment No. 2 (File M-84-001)
j
Dear Mr. Schmahl:
We have completed our review of the Surface Rock Quarry Amendment
Application. Enclosed you will find the questions, comments and cc
which we identified during our review of the amendment application.
rn s
4lhen evaluating the amended mining and reclamation plans, we consid red the
issues raised during our on-site inspections and the stipulations c ntained in
the agreement reached by Mesa County and yourself on November 8, 19 8.
The Division does not wish to duplicate or contradict any of the stipulations
which you agreed to with the County. It would appear to us, howeve that the
amendment application will need to be revised so that the mining an
reclamation plans reflect the agreed upon stipulations. Our commen s
generally reflect these discrepancies.
Please note that the Mined Land Reclamation Board is scheduled to h ar this
matter at its January 25, 1989 meeting. If you cannot submit all o the
materials requested by January 20, 1989, we would suggest that you equest a
continuance until the February 22, 1989 Board meeting.
We look forward to working with you in order to resolve any
or concerns.
Please contact me if yett~ave any questions ar comments.
Sincere y j
;-
Steven Re~er
Reclamation Specialist
SGR/eas
Enclosure(s)
cc: Tom Logue, Armstrong Consultants, Inc.
Bennett Boeschenstein, Mesa County Planning Dept.
ing issues
2334E
215 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
