Old <br /> quarries which have existed for 50 or more years . The o erburdens <br /> have been leveled off into working decks . Waste stone is <br /> incorporated into the working deck to widen the dec s and to <br /> prevent soil erosion . Where topsoils and fines exist they are <br /> stockpiled for use in the reclamation process . <br /> The stone is quarried by hand with bars , wedges , and by a forklift <br /> loader. When necessary, back seams are blasted with dy amite. It <br /> is then processed according to use . Building stone and dimension <br /> stone are cut on a hydraulic stone cutter . Flagstone i sorted as <br /> it is quarried. Some waste stone is sold as rip-rap material . <br /> Quarrying is done all in one phase . All quarry lives are <br /> indefinite . When the quarries are reclaimed they will be returned <br /> to mountain pastures or building sites . Available to )-soil and <br /> fines will be scattered and vegetation planted or se ded where <br /> possible . Embankments will be stabilized and made secure . <br />
