Additional questions or comments will be forthcoming.
The following are questions or comments concerning Basin Resources' January 3, 1994 letter
referencing questions C. Subsidence, Item 1.:
1. On the proposed revised page 2.05-48, it is stated that the subsidence monitoring points
for the longwall panel north of the Purgatoire River were Located so that at least the
end points would not be affected by subsidence. The mason for this is that one can,
then, calculate the angle of draw. However, the subsidence data shows that all of the
monitoring points subsided. Therefore, the angle of draw cannot be calculated. Please
submit a second plan to determine the angle of draw.
2. On the proposed revised page 2.05-48, statements are made as to the operator's plans
when and to what degree subsidence monitoring will be modified in the future. Please
include a statement that these modifications would need the Division's approval.
3. On the proposed revised page 2.05-49, it is stated that subsidence monitoring and
control plans will be submitted to the Division on any new structures prior to the
subsidence trough advancing to within 100 feet of the structure. Please state how much
time is involved in advancing 100 feet by longwall mining. The Division will need
sufficient time to review and approve the plans and the time to advance 100 feet may
not be enough.
4. On the proposed revised page 2.05-49, it is stated that the results of subsidence
monitoring will be submitted annually. However, Rule 2.05.6(6)(c)(i)(E) requires
semi-annual submittal. Please revise this sentence.
