Fulton, Chief, Denver Field Division
OEf.ice of Surface Mining
Western Regional Coordinating Center
1999 Broadway, Suite 3320
Denver, Colorado 80202-5733
Dear Mr. Fulton:
On January 29, 1998, this office sent a concurrence letter for bond release
SL-02 for the Edna Mine in Routt County, Colorado, conditioned upon correct
understanding of the lands involved due to some confusing legal descriptions
contained in the application. we have received a letter from Jim Burnell of
CDMG, dated February 4, 1998, conveying pages from the proposed decision with
the corrected legal description. The new legal description has been reviewed
and found to be in agreement with the map and other data indicating lands
involved. The corrected legal description is as follows:
T.4N., R.86W., 6th P.M.. Routt County, Colorado.
West Ridge Area:
Sec. 13: NE'/,NWS;, SE's, SW%NWS;, W14NWy,NES:, Wy~SW'/.NEI., SWy., W~,SNWy,SES;,
W~SWY.S Ey;
Sec. 14: SEY.;
Sec. 23: NWI:NES;, NE'/.NE'/,, SE'/.NEY.;
Sec. 29: ~, WS4NW;;NE'b, WyISW~NEY„ NWS:SWY., NEY.SWy,, W)4NWy,S EY..
Center Ridge Area:
Sec. 24: SE'/,NW'/,NEY., E'rSSWy,NEy„ NE'/,NWS;SE'/..
The proposed decision will release P&M from liability for backfilling,
grading, and drainage re-establishment on the subject lands. The release
would reduce the bond amount 608 of the original bond. The findings document
states that the remaining bond amount is sufficient to assure the completion
of the remaining reclamation work if the work had to be pe[formed by the
Division should those areas fail.
The proposed Phase I bond release will not conflict with federal lease terms
and, therefore, BLM has no objection to the Phase I bond release for these
areas.
If you have any questions, please contact Janet Hook at (970) B26-5079.
Sincerely,
John Husband
Area Manager
