'IYre fourth side of the "box" is the slope above the
r-niahim a screeni-rrg level (please refer to the enclosed drawing arcl Map 8-1) .
'live approximate dimensions of the "box" are four feet (height) by 19 feet (width)
by 61 feet (length). Zhis results in a total volume of 4,636 square foot, or the
capacity to hold about 34,700 gallons of fluid. 2}vus, the existing containment
structure is more than adequate to hold the contents of the 10, 000 gallon tank.
In order to allow efficient clean up of a spill, if such a need arises, the
existing structure will be modified prior to plaoemervt of the tank. A four inch
concrete floor will be placed in the bottom part of the structure. COVCC poured
a 2' x 4" wall in the approximate center of the structure along with 4" floor
that was paced on the west side of the wall. this wall was poured in the center
to reduce the corrcnete required to Dover the bottom of the entire containment
structure. It should be noted that the center wall will not oc~rom-ise the
overall capacity of the wntainment structure. If a spill were to occur, the
west side would hold about 10,600 gallons of fluid before fluid would move into
the east side of the structure. 42ve overall capacity of the structure would
remain at about 34,700 gallons.
'Ihe 10,000 gallon tank, which measures about 27 feet in length and 8 feet in
diama+~cr, will be placed on its side and waste oil will be poured into the top
of the tank fnm the beach immediately upslope from the cn~shirig and screening
level. At that level, the fill tube is surrounded by a steel box.
