PUBLIC NOTICE (LEGAL NOTICE)
The Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company, POB 191 (100 North Third Street), Victor
Colorado 80860 ((719)-689-2977)) has filed an application for an Amendment to Colorado
Mined Land Permit M-80-244 to the Colorado Department of Natural Resources pursuant to the
provisions of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Act. The application is for modifications
to the Cresson Project, a surface mine and gold recovery operation which is located in parts of
Sections 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 29, 30, and 31 T15S, R69W (6th Principal Meridian), Sections
24, 25, and 36 T15S, R70W (Sixth Principal Meridian), and Sections 9, 10, and 15 T16S,
R70W (6th Principal Meridian) in Teller County. The Cresson Project has operated since 1994.
The primary modifications include the continuation of surface mining in the Cripple Creek
Mining District near the curcent mine, the enlargement of the existing overburden storage areas,
and an extension of the existing valley leach facility. With the exception of a temporary
construction work force in parts of 1999-2000, no increase in the operation's labor force is
anticipated.
The proposed date of implementation is the construction season of 1999, with completion of
operations estimated to occur in 2011. The post-mining land use for which a financial warranty
for reclamation computed is wildlife and domestic animal habitat, though community and County
land use planning that may benefit from adjustments is continuing. The activities proposed
would be anticipated to allow the operations to mine ore and place it on the double- and triple-
lined leach facility into 2005, followed by an addtional 6 to 7 years of leaching and reclamation.
The application, which is a technical document addressing construction, operations, and
protection of the environment, is available for review at the Teller County Court House in
Cripple Creek (i^ the County Clerk and Recorder's office), at the Colorado Department of
Natural Resources, Division of Minerals and Geology, Office of Mined Land Reclamation (1313
Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO, 80203 ((303) 866-3567), at CC&V's Administrative
Offices in Victor during regular business hours and by appointment, and at the City Hall in
Victor. The applicant welcomes and solicits meetings with any potential reviewer (contact 719
689-2977 X 16).
This application will also be provided, by the week of August 3, 1998, to Teller County as part
of the Teller County Planning Commission's procedures to consider amending the existing
Conditional Use Permit. In this context, the Teller County Planning Department may be
contacted at 719 687-5259 after their receipt of the application.
Written comments in support of the application, asking for information, or in opposition to the
application must be filed with the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology within 20 days
of the last publicatio^ of this notice.
