REPLY TO REVIEW COMMENTS
Comment:
(2) A number of mining related features are located outside of the permit
boundary area. Such features include the proposed topsoil and fill dirt
stockpile area, scale, trailer, diesel fuel tanks and pile adjacent to the
entrance road. All mining related structures must be located inside the
permit boundary area. Please revise the maps accordingly.
Answer:
The reclamation boundary has been adjusted to include the stockpile area, scale, trailer,
and diesel fuel tanks and all related mining structures.
The "pile adjacent" to the road was digitized from an existing U.SG.S. quadrangle map
which was shown on the mining map as a depression left from previous mining activity.
Since the map was created subsequent mining activity has resulted in a change in the
areas topography. Since the depression was incorrect and to avoid confusion the
depression symbol has been removed from the Mining Map (Exhibit C).
Comment:
(3) Rule 3.1.9 states that topsoil shall be removed and segregated from other soil.
The topsoiUfill pile noted on Exhibit C appears to be a combination of both
materials. Please revise the mining plan and map to depict a separate pile
for topsoil and fill overburden.
Answer:
The Mining Plan (Exhibit C) has been modified to show two separate piles, one for
topsoil and one for overburden.
