Future active mining
will now be limited to the current quarry floor. Reclamation of all inactive
areas will begin as soon as possible a~cordin to the re~5gd time_t~ble_bgto~i.
~Reclamaiion o~ ac ive~ill be performed when mining ceases. As areas
become depleted, they will be reclaimed.
Reclamation of all currently inactive areas was started during 1987. Earthwork
for the reclamation of the inactive areas will be completed during 1988 and all
areas will be seeded during the first planting season thereafter. Monitoring
and maintenance of these areas will continue until fully released by the
Division. All reclamation will conform to the previously approved plan with
respect to slope stabilities, seed bed preparation, soil amendments, and
seeding mixtures and rates. Fines material from the active operation will be
u~ as a topsoil substitute w er~neecTed. -Configuration and final contours
of the inactive areas will be changed to reflect the conditions as they exist
today rather than i:hose previously anticipated in the earlier reclamation plan.
~Below.is a detailed plan and schedule for reclamation of the inactive areas.
Spring 1988
1) Complete slope reduction and establish drainage in Echo Canyon. 2)
Evaluate success of grading and revegetation done during 1987 and repair
or regrade those areas where erosion is evident and establish drainage
channels where necessary.
Summer 1988
1) Demolition of structures which would not enhance the post mining land
use (grazing) and prepare these areas for revegetation. 2) Reduce berms
along roads in inactive areas and prepare them for revegetation.
Stabilize outslopes of all roads within the permit area. 3) Pry ewe
benches above active quarry for revegetation.
Fall 1988
Seed bed preparation, fertilization and seeding of all graded areas
including Echo Lanyon, quarry benches, old quarry, shop area, inactive
roads and active road outslopes.
1989 & Following
Reclamation of any inactive areas not previously reclaimed. At the end of
this year all inactive areas will be reclaimed, monitoring and maintenance
of all areas will continue until the inactive areas are fully released by
the Division.
