BATTLE MOUNTAIN RESOURCES Page 8-I <br />San Luis Project Technical Specifications <br />8.0 GROUTED RIPRAP <br />The Contractor shall use grouted riprap for channel erosion protection as required in steep <br />spillway sections (Sta. 5+90 to End). The transitions between riprap and grouted riprap shall be <br />a minimum of 10 feet upstreanr of the steep spillway section or any section with :a slope steeper <br />than one percent. Other revetments may be substituted if approved by the Designer, as outlined <br />in Sec[ion 2.13 of these Specifications <br />Rock for use in grouted riprap shall meet or exceed the size requirements for Material Type 7 and <br />shall be free of stones smaller than one inch diameter. The grouted riprap shall be underlain by a <br />minimum 12-inch thick filter layer consisting of Material Type 8 which is underlain by filter <br />fabric and overlain by several layers of burlap, filter fabric, or other suitable material (subject to <br />the Designer's approval) to prevent grout contamination of the filter layer as shown in the <br />Drawings. The filter fabric shall meet the Specifications for geotextile filter fabric (Section 7.0). <br />Grout for grouted riprap shall consist of one part type II sulfate resistant Portland cement and <br />three parts of sand thoroughly mixed with water to a thick creamy consistency (apl~roxima[ely 3- <br />7inch slump). The grout mix shall utilize the minimum amount of water necessary to produce a <br />flowable mixture to reduce shrinkage as the grout hazdens. Consistency of the gro\it is subject to <br />the approval of the Designer. The grout shall contain 4 percent air en[rainmerrt and have a <br />minimum 28-day strength of 2000 psi. The Contractor shall submit design mix test records from <br />the actual grout production facility which will be used to the Designer for approval prior to any <br />actual grout placement. <br />Aggregate for grouted riprap shall meet [he following gradation requirements and conform to the <br />Specifications for fine aggregate for concrete presented in AASHTO M-6 or ASTM C-33. <br />N:\DHALLMAN~SANLUIS~SANLUIS.DOC 8-I SRK Project No. 14732 <br />
