~~ Minor Revision No. 185
May 3, 1996
Page 2
the north side of the road and then flow into the 42-inch half culvert. During recent maintenance
of culvert C2-2, it was noted that it had several small holes, apparently caused by sediment
abrasion. MCC proposes to change the design of this culvert to a half culvert for safety reasons
and for future maintenance. Culvert C2-2 is located on a fairly steep slope which ends at a rock
outcrop (cliff and located immediately below is the stacktube access/haul road. The water which
flows through this culvert spills out over the outcrop to ditch D2-l, which is the ditch along the
stacktube access/haul road. MCC proposes to pipe this water down to the ditch; therefore, a 36-
inch culvert will be attached to the 42-inch half culvert down to ditch D2-1. The distance is
approximately 50 feet. Please find enclosed the SEDCAD design which shows a 42-inch half
culvert is an appropriate size. Table 44 has been updated to include the new half culvert along
with the 36-inch culvert design.
MCC appreciates the Division's attention to this revision, as MCC would like to complete the
construction as soon as possible.
