PERMIT 79-177, MID-TERM REVIEW
MAY 13, 1985
PAGE FIVE
behind to assure the establishment of a successful plant cover on
the site. In the event that the topsoil has eroded to a depth that
revegetation will be delayed, the sites will be backfilled and
graded.
b. Based on the density and occurrence of rills and gullies on ad-
jacent areas, does CYCC propose to identify areas of future
reclamation where gully formation would be expected to occur
and where gully reclamation would therefore not be implemented?
RESPONSE:
At the May 2, 1985 Coal Operators/CMLRD meeting in Denver an updated
policy for regrading or stabilizing rills and gullies was presented.
Based upon this policy, CYCC will formulate and submit when com-
pleted, a plan identifying areas of future reclamation where gully
formation would be expected to occur.
XVII. Bonding -Rules 2.05.4(2)(b) and 3
In the February 3, 1984 midterm response document, CYCC estimated a
reclamation cost of $9,884,100.00. That estimate did not include
reclamation of the Area 2 pit, In addition, 1,702 acres have been
revegetated at Mines No. 1, No. 2 and Eckman Park, but not released
from bond. Based on material volumes and assumptions as set forth
in the Foidel Creek Permit Application, the cost of reclamation of
Pit 2 is estimated to be $905,190.00 (see Attachment A). A cost of
$611.00 per acre is applied to revegetated areas not released from
bond. Based on calcuiations submitted by CYCC (February 3, 1984),
the cost of reclaiming the Area 2 pit, and the cost of revegetation
on the 1,702 acres which have been reseeded but not released, the
total bond amount required is $12,023,000.00.
