Ms. Barbara L Pavlik
Division of Minerals 8 Geology
July 24, 1995
Page 2
Monitor hole 36-2L is the only monitor hole located in the lower sandstone facies form which water
samples were collected. The average TDS for the monitoring period was 604 mg/I. This compared
with a range of TDS identified during baseline studies of 810 mgfl to 2100 mg/I.
The bedrock water quality analysis for the monitoring period 1981 through the third quarter of 1984
indicated that the water quality had remained within the ranges identified during the baseline studies.
Hence, this requirement was apparenty dropped as per a letter and attachment, dated October 10,
1984, from Mr. Dan Mathews of the Division. Unfortunately, both WFU and DMG have been unable
to locate this correspondence. However, it should be noted that subsequent annual hydrological
reports followed the revised monitoring program which did not require bedrock water sampling and
analysis. It appears that such a change in monitoring program was not formalized through a
technical revision in 7985.
WFU requests that based upon the data collected during 1981-1984 which showed water quality
remained within the ranges identified during the baseline studies, and the current practice which is
in continuance since 1985, the requirements for bedrock water qualiiy sampling and analysis be
formally eliminated.
If you have any quesfions, please call.
MPSlg
cc: Raja UpadhyayNVFA
Jeff Dubbert/WFU
Sincerely,
,-
l
Murari P.
