Appendix F of the
report gives water quality analytical data.
Please note the following:
Bedrock water samples were collected from eleven (11) of the bedrock monitor holes from 1981
through the third quarter of 1984. Water samples were collected from three (3) upper sandstone
facies holes (2-7u, 2-12u and 4-20u); seven (7) siltstone coal facies holes (TW2-17m, 29-4m, 30-
8m, 31-7m, 32-7m, 33-Bm and 35-4m); and hole 38-2L in the lower sandstone facies.
The water quality data during the monitoring period (1981 through third quarter 1984) from the three
monitor holes located in the upper sandstone facies showed that the average total dissolved solids
(fDS) content varied from 1260 mgA at TW2-7u to an average of 2080 mgA at 4-20u. This
compared with a baseline showing TDS carrying from 420 mgA to 3350 mgA. High fecal and total
colifonn were detected in 4-20u in samples collected on September 21, 1983. The high coliform
concentration was the result of a dead animal (mouse or rat) in the monitor hole.
The water quality data for seven (7) holes monitoring the siltstone coal facies showed that the
average TDS for the monitoring period varied from a low TDS of 252 mgA at 31-7m to a high TDS
at 33-8m of 2282 mgA. This compared with a range of TDS in the siltstone coal facies during
baseline studies ranging from 325 mgA to 574 mgA. Holes 31-7m and 30-8m both had low
concentrations of TDS compared to the other siltstone-coal facies monitoring holes; the result of
being located closer to the area of recharge for this zone.
Swte #305
405 Urban Street
lakeaood, Coloado 80228
Telephone 303/988-9626
Telecopier 303/986-8147
