MLRB
Equipment to be used in the
but is not limited to, a dragline,
scrapers and a water truck.
Page 3
mining operation may include,
front-end loaders, conveyors,
Reclamation Plan, Revised. Most of the affected land
will be reclaimed as lakes to be used for fishing, boating and
competition water skiing. The Worthing residential area will
remain as it exists currently. A swimming and boat-grounding
beach with 6 to 1 slopes will be created at the southern end
of the ski lake adjacent to the Worthing residential property.
Another beach with 6 to 1 slopes and a recreation area of
7.191 acres will be created on the south edge of the affected
lands. These are private lands and waters. Except for occa-
sional use of the ski lake in summer, the area will be quiet
and peaceful, a haven for birds, waterfowl, fish, other
acquatic wildlife and the usual small native animals and rodents.
In order to minimize the visual impact of the operation,
reclamation will be started as mining is completed in any given
area. For instance, as mining proceeds from north to south,
mining activity along the north shore will be completed. One
medium-size lake will then be started and the north shore of
that lake will be resoiled and revegetated to its final
reclaimed state.
The revised mining plan explains that the banks of the
lake will be mined at a slope of 3 to 1. Only resoiling and
revegetation will be necessary for reclamation. No baclcfill
will be needed. A minimal amount of reshaping may be necessary,
the cost of which is included in Reclamation Costs, Revised,
as outlined later in this letter.
When reclamation is completed, two lakes will exist on
the property now owned by 54r. Worthing. For reference purposes,
the northernmost body of water is designated "Trout Lake" and
the southern body of water is designated "Bass Lake." The
lakes encompass 3.09 acres and 4.64 acres respectively. A por-
tion of the ski lake (1.64 acres of the total 54.761 acres) will
extend onto Dlr. Worthing's property. The balance of the ski
lake (53.12 acres) and all of Clear Lake (2.97 acres) will be
on property owned by Frei. (See P.1ap Exhibit F.)
The existing lake in the southeast corner of the property
will be reworked except for the east, southeast and northeast
banks. The western two-thirds of the north shore will be stripped
of soil and excavated to a new configuration. It will then be
reclaimed to a sand beach. The area to the east, where slough-
ing is occurring at the waterline, will be rip-rapped with broken
concrete, if necessary, after revegetative growth is established.
Some experimental effort may be required to achieve a successful
final result.
