Box 591
Somerset, CO 81434
Re: The Mountain Coal Company MCC 1994 Exploration Program
Dear Mr. Scanlon:
TAKES ~
PRIDE INS
AMER~~
~~
~ ^
d RFPLY RF3EA TO:
3410 (CO-033)
COC54360
C-1362
MAY 3 1 1994
We have reviewed the MCC summary and map which explains the 1994 exploration
program. In your summary you requested that BIM expedite the approval process
for this program. Approval is given by the BIM District manager for
exploration programs within the manager's District. Approval can only be
given for planned drill hole sites that are within boundaries of an area
legally controlled by MCC for the purpose of exploration drilling. Therefore
the sites are outlined for approval with conditions as follows:
1. Sites S, T, V, and W on Federal coal lease C-1362 are approved.
2. Sites J, J-Alt, L, M-Alt, and I on Federal exploration license
COC54360 are approved. It should be noted that sites A, B, C,
E, F, G, H, N, 0, and P are also approved in the event that the
opportuni ty arises to complete drilling on any of these sites in
1994.
3. Sites R, and U on Fee coal are approved wi th the understanding that
Federal coal is being indirectly explored.
4. Site Q on the Box Canyon Federal explorati on license area is
approved on the condition that the license applied for is issued.
The Colorado State Office of the BLM is working on license issuance for the
Box Canyon Federal exploration license. In the process of that issuance, the
BLM Montrose District Manager's approval of the exploration plan will be
documented to the files in the Colorado State Office.
If you have any questions please call Desty Dyer at 303-249-7791.
Sincerely,

Alan L. Kesterke
District Manager
