~~ ~~
Phase 6 monitoring program:
I. Piezometers and recharge ponds will be monitored quarterly.
2. Water will be diverted into the recharge ponds by means of the groundwater collection
trenches on the west and north side of the property. Flows to be measured monthly.
3. The monitoring program during this phase will be specifically aimed at identifying any
problems with the recharge capacity of the recharge ponds and sufficient movement of
groundwater from the north side of the property to the south side of the property.
4. In an effort to identify problems associated with the capacity of the recharge ponds the
monitoring plan to evaluate the recharge capacity of the two recharge ponds will be
continued throughout mining and reclamation.
5. In an effort to identify problems associated with the movement of groundwater from the
north to the south side of the subject property, the relative groundwater elevations in
piezometers Pl and P6 will be compared. During the period of April 12 -September 30 1999
groundwater elevations were measured on the five Connell piezometers approximately 2-3
times per month. During this period the maximum difference in groundwater elevations from
the north side of the property to the south side (P 1 to PS) was 8.l feet. If at any time during
this phase of the mining operation the groundwater elevation in piezometer Pl is over 10.0
feet higher than the groundwater elevation in piezometer P6 (P6 is approximately 400 feet
further south of P1 than PS), DMG will be notified.
6. After DMG has been notified, Connell Resources will review records from all nine
monitoring wells and submit a report to DMG within 30 days. The report will present an
analysis of the groundwater elevation drop and a mitigation plan to move groundwater from
the north side of the subject property to the south side. The mitigation plan may involve the
installation of a french drain system around the perimeter of the property rather than the
groundwater collection trench system currently proposed.
