M N
TIMNATH CONNELL PIT
Groundwater Dewatering/Monitoring Program:
Tuttle Applegate, Inc. Job # 98-273
Date: 1 / 10/00
Five piezometers are located on the Timnath Pit property. Four additional piezometers have been
installed on Mr. Louie Swift's property to the south of the Timnath Pit. The attached map shows
the location and ground surface elevation of the nine monitoring wells.
Connell Resources will coordinate with Terracon on the collection of groundwater depth
measurements on the nine wells. Reporting of the data that is collected by Terracon will be
submitted to Connell Resources and copied to Mr. Louie Swift and provided to the Division of
Minerals and Geology with the annual report.
The depth measurements will be completed on a monthly basis beginning in October, 1999 and
will continue through the completion of Phase 5 of the mining plan. After Phase 5 is completed
the wells will be monitored for groundwater levels on a quarterly basis until Connell Resources
completes mining and reclamation of the site.
Dewatering/Monitoring Program (by Mining Phase):
Phase 1
Phase 1 dewatering: Prior to mining Phase l a temporary dewatering silt pond will be
constructed (details provided below). Groundwater pumped from the Phase 1 mining will be
diverted to the temporary dewatering silt pond and then to the Boxelder Ditch. Piezometer P6 will
be monitored daily and if the water level drops more than 1 foot during excavation, then water
will be diverted to the temporary dewatering silt pond and then to the drainage culvert under
County Road 36. At the completion of Phase I mining, the west recharge pond will be
constructed and will be used for recharge through the rest of mining.
Phase 1 monitoring program: Piezometers will be monitored monthly with the exception of
piezometer P6. Piezometer P6 will be monitored daily during the initial dewatering of Phase 1
until the dewatering program for Phase 1 has been established.
Temporary Silt Pond: The temporary silt pond will be located east of Phase 1 and west of the
Boxelder Ditch approximately 20 feet by 30 feet in size. The pond will be constructed at the high
point between the ditch and Phase 1 to allow gravity flows to the Boxelder Ditch and to the
County Road 36 culvert. If Connell determines [ha[ the temporary silt pond is not sufficiently
removing silt from the water prior to discharge, a gravel filter will be installed. The filter, if
needed, will be constructed with a C33 sand and graduate to a 3 inch aggregate. The filter will be
constructed to a size capable of handling the flow rate from the groundwater pumping from the
Phase 1 mining.
