This item concerns <br />Dorchester's Fruita Mine wliicl~ is located about ten miles nortliwes[ of Grand Junction. <br />After review by the staff, staff recommends that [fie re is no[ an alluvial valley <br />floor in or adjacent to tl~e Fruita Mine itself. <br />It was h10VED that based on the staff recommendation and rile description of the <br />evidence presented to [l~em that [tie Board issue an advisory opinion that the <br />area surrounding the Dorchester Colomine Coal Company Fruita line does not appear <br />to be in or adjacent to an alluvial valley floor. SECONDED and PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. <br />AGENDA ITEM 31 - TRINIDAD BASIN t1lhllNG INC., File No. 79-53 <br />Staff presentation was made by Reclamation Specialist, Mike Savage, regarding <br />an amendment to rile mine plan, to enlarge rile permit area [o include sediment <br />control facilities within the permit boundary, to present calculations and map <br />sediment control facilities, to incorporate the railroad loadout facility in <br />Trinidad; this to be an interim approval. This amendment authorizes no additional <br />mining or change in the mining plan. <br />Staff recommends approval for portions of rile amendment regarding the permit boundary <br />change and recommend approval of sections dealing with the loadout facility with one <br />stipulation. Relative to the sediment control facility, the staff continues to have <br />outstanding unresolved concerns. Staff recommends and requests that the Board <br />delegate [o the staff the authority to approve tl~e sediment control system once the <br />remaining concerns are resolved subject to Board ratification. <br />~~ <br />
