Walther
Executive DveUOr
MichaCl B Long
Division Director
The Division has conducted a review of Twentymile Coal Company's adequacy response submittal, received
January 18, 2000. This letter addresses Twentymile Coal Company responses to the Division's adequacy
letters dated December 21, 1999, and January 14, 2000. I have included, in italics, the questions the Division
asked in the January 14, 2000 adequacy letter, followed by our review of Twentymile Coal Company's
responses.
~ 1. The Division's January 14, 2000 adequacy letter asked,
Revised page 3 of the permit renewal application was not submitted with updated permit acreage
information. This page does not reflect the current permitted acreage. Please provide a revised page
3 with the corrected permitted acreage.
Twentymile Coal Company submitted a revised application page 3. The form submitted by
Twentymile Coal Company indicates that the Foidel Creek permit azea has "0" private mineral
acreage, 7,669 state mineral acres, and 7,698 federal mineral acres. A value of 7,327 is entered in the
row titled "8. Mineral ownership: Indicate cturently permitted acreage for each." Please resubmit
page 3 of the application form to reflect the correct mineral ownership in the approved pezmit area.
The Division digitized the mineral acreage from Twentymile Coal Company's Map 2, "Coal
Ownership" (certified 11 /12/99). The Division's results of the acreage shown on Map 2 were;
7743 acres private mineral acreage, 7436 acres state mineral acres, and 7377 federal mineral acres.
Please resolve this apparent discrepancy in acreage between permit application page 3 and Map 2.
11. The Division's January 14, 2000 adequacy letter asked,
On page 2.05-9, Twentymile Coal Company revised the annzra/tonnage to reflect 10, 000, 000 tons per
year. However, this page now states that Twentymile Coal Company achieved the 10.000.000 tons
per year in 1993. This is not accurate. The Division believes Twentymile Coal Company achieved
the 10, 000, 000 tons/year extraction rate in 1998. This page remains inaccurate. Please provide a
corrected page with accurate information.
C: W H B\C82056\RN03\020100resp. dot
