1 Mining Plan
Page -2-

1

1

A portable crusher plant will be situated in the south-east corner of the
original mined area, adjacent to the area that is the subject of this amendment.
A front end loader will be used to excavate the pit run material and to feed the
crusher plant. The gravel will be processed into various types of graded
aggregates, and will be stored in stockpiles in proximity to the crusher plant.
The crusher plant will be located at the site on an intermittent basis, as need
dictates and may be located within the boundaries of the amendment area after the
initial production run.
In addition to processed materials, a portion of the deposit will be used on
construction projects as unprocessed fill material.
Activities that will be conducted at this site will include extraction, crushing,
screening and stockpiling of gravels using surface mining techniques typical to
open pit gravel mining operations.
It is expecte_d_that the affected acreage, consisting of 6.3 acres, will
experien major disturba`ncQ with either excavation activity or topsoil storage.
--- ----
' The development of this amendment will occur as one continuous phase due to the
relatively small amount of area being affected. The entire 6.3 acres will be
affected at once. It is also anticipated that the duration of mining of this
amendment will be approximately two years.

1

1

LJ
1

Backfilling and initial grading of slopes will be done concurrently with the
extraction process. As a section of the site is excavated, the banks of that
section will be backfilled with overburden and rough graded.
The sequence of activity at the site will be soil removal and storage,
excavation, processing and stockpiling of gravels, backfilling and grading of
excavated areas, and placement of topsoil and final grading of slopes in
preparation for reseeding.
.During mining operations, the site must be maintained in a dewatered condition
•since all operations will occur at an elevation that is below the natural water
table. The waste water discharge permit (number COG500216) that covers
'discharges from the current operation will be amended to include this discharges
from the amended area.
Additionally, the well permit (number 041478-F) will be amended to accommodate
the increase in acreage.
