<br /> <br /> <br />MINING PLAN <br />i <br /> <br />The purpose of this application is to amend Permit Number M-91-13fi. The <br />operation that this permit covers was originally named the Magie Gravel Pit, but <br />has, out of necessity, been renamed the River Road Gravel Pit. <br />~~ Th~rooerty that is the subject of this amendment consists of 9.3 acres in total <br />As depicted on the pre-mining map, there is a house and outbuilding near the <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />1 center of the property. These buildings are extremely dilapidated and will be <br />demolished and disposed of. The telephone line and electrical power line that <br />wn on the pre-mining map exclusively serve this property and will be <br />va~aJ because they will no longer be necessary. <br />Access to the site for production equipment and transportation of materials will <br />t <br /> <br />t <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />L <br />J <br /> <br />size as is depicted on the pre-mining map. <br />Of the total acreage, 6.3 acres will be affected by the mining operation, and 5.1 d ~ i L Q <br />acres will actually be mined. As depicted on the mining plan map, ac will ~T'"~ <br />be unaffected and are not included in the permitted area. <br />~,3 ~. <br />The area that will be affected is situated adjacent to the south-east corner of nv1(~, <br />the existing River Road Pit (M-91-136) and will be mined as a continuation of l 1 <br />'that operat{on. <br />be by using the haul road that has been built for the existing River Road Pit <br />operation. This haul road exits the site on the north side of the property onto <br />Mesa County's River Road. ~ <br />~~~ <br />Initial activity at the site will be the removal of the top soil and overburden <br />from the area to be mined. ~.is_soil will be used to build a berm along the <br />southern-Dermit boundary that will range from 6 feet to 8 feet high and <br />approximately 30 feet in width. op soi will be stored in a berm along the <br />east property boundary and in a stockp 1 we est of the amended permit area along <br />the southern boundary of the River Road Pit. These locations are depicted on the <br />mining plan map. The soil that is not used to build berms will be used to <br />backfill slopes and to plate slopes fora seed bed media. <br />The current situation of the River Road Pit is that the gravel has been extracted <br />according to the original mining plan, and the resource is now depleted. <br />Mining operations for the amended area will commence in the south-east corner of <br />the original site with the removal of the 30' section that was left as a buffer <br />between the mining operation and the property line. As this is done, excavation <br />will continue in a southerly direction throughout the extent of the area to be <br />mined. <br />Excavation and processing operations will be conducted on the floor of the pit, <br />which is approximately 25 feet below the normal ground level. <br /> <br />
