SPECIALISTS IN POTATOES
2438 E. 8TH ST., BOX 816
• •. ~ GREELEY,COLORADO 80632
OFFICE PHONE •970-353-1864 SEASONAL: COLORADO -ARIZONA -TEXAS
FAX M PHONE: 970-351-7007
They continue to raise the elevation of the berm knowing they aze in violation of the law and having no
consideration for their neighbors by possibly pushing flood waters onto their land. The berm on Varra's
side of the river is a lot higher than on our side, and if a flood does occur, the flood will push the water
onto the north side of the river due to the building up of the berm on the south side. in a Floodway ,there
is supposed to be no buildup of materials or structures to disturb the natural flow of water in a event of
floods or high water. We have an Industrial Park already existing north of the river in the floodplain with
numerous commercial buildings and plan to continue to build. We are very concerned about flooding on
our side due to the floodway violations that Varra Co. Inc. has incurred.
We are asking you to reconsider this permit and take necessary action against Varra Co Inc. to return the
berm to it's original height of 8 feet high from the bottom of the river bed.
Enclosed are pictures of Varra Co Inc. dumping dirt onto the berm and raising the elevation of the berm
or dike. Please note, writing on front or back of pictues explaining different heights of original berm and
elevated berm done by Varra Co. Inc.
Also enclosed is information from the City Of Greeley on the new studies of the Floodway and Floodplain
and their feelings on Varra ever being out of the Floodway.
In addition, the new gravel pit well permit that they aze requesting concerns us in depleting the existing
wells on our property. The production use of0.72 MGD, ]5 acre-feet wi111ower the water table for our
wells and will cause a hardship due to the fact that we won't be able to water our landscape trees and
bushes. The well location is Weld. Sec. 3,9,10 Twp. 5 N. Range 65 W ti's P.M.
We appreciate your time and consideration on this issue and will be looking forward [o your reply in the
near future.
