ABSTRACT
Commercial Testing and Engineering, Co. (CT&E) conducted a two species acute bioassay on
the West Elk Mine Lone Pine Pipeline effluent discharge. This discharge has been designated as
outfall 013. The purpose of this bioassay was to determine if the facility complies with the WET
portion of the Colorado State Permit System Authorization to Discharge. The test organisms
utilized were the fathead minnow (Pimepha/es promelas) and the daphnid (Daphnia magrur).
Test results indicate that the effluent was not acutely toxic to either species. Therefore,
Mountain Coal Company outfall 013 effluent is in compliance with the acute WET portion of its
Colorado State Discharge Permit for the fourth quarter of 1999.
C~
•
COMMERCIAL TESTING 8 ENGINEERING CO.
F-~ LTA
Onginal Watermarketl For Your Protection ,~~~, ~a,
