After temperature, pH, and conductivity stabilized, another run was made for final field and lab
samples. Usually the most representative sample is selected (after purging) in the middle of the
run, and this mid-point sample is in bold below:
~
9.0 2,210 18.1
9.1 2,100 15.9
9.1 2,180 15.1
9.1 2,160 14.5
9.2 2,190 14.2
9.2 2,250 14.3
It is interesting that the first run contained higher conductivity than subsequent runs, but purging
was adequate to remove existing casing water below the bentonite seal, therefore the final
sample is typical of water in the lower open zone of the well. Expected conductivity of > 10,000
may slowly develop over time.
Data is shown as pH/conductivity (umhos/cm) /temp °C
MWD1-9/26/00
8.6 / 38,400 / 16.1 MWDl-9/27/00
8.9 / 40,100 / 16.1
8.6 / 61,400 / 17.7
8.6 / 39,100 / 15.8 8.7 / 40,500 / 14.8 8.6 / 58,500 / 15.8
8.5 / 38,800 / 14.8 8.7 / 40,600 / 14.3 8.7 / 58,900 / 14.7
8.4 / 39,400 / 14.7 8.3 / 56,300 / 14.2 8.7 ! 59,800 (14.5
8.4 / 39,300 / 14.4 8.2 / 58,700 / 14.2 8.4 / 52,900 / 15.3
8.4 / 39,800 / 14.6 8.2 / 60,400 / 14.4 8.3 / 49,800 / 14.8
8.3 (39,900 / 14.4 8.2 (60,6001 14.4 8.2 f 47,800 / 14.5
8.3 / 40,000 / 14.6 8.3 / 60,600 / 14.6 8.2 / 45,800 / 14.4
8.3 / 40,300 / 14.2 8.2 / 60,200 / 14.3 8.1 / 45,200 / 14.2
8.3 ! 40,7001 14.2 8.2160,2001 14.0 8.2144,5001 14.3
8.3 / 40,400 / 14.2 8.2 / 60,500 / 14.0 8.2 / 43,500 / 14.3
8.3 / 40,500 / 14.2 8.2 / 60,200 / 13.9
8.3 / 40,500 / 14.2 8.2 / 59,700 / 13.8
8.2 / 40,800 / 14.2 8.2 / 59,500 / 13.7
8.2 / 40,300 / 14.1 8.2 / 59,700 / 13.6
8.2 / 40,700 / 13.9 8.2 / 60,100 / 13.6
8.2 / 41,800 / 14.3 8.2 / 60,200 / 13.5
8.2 / 51,400 / 14.2 8.2 / 60,800 / 13.6
8.2/57,100/14.3
8.2 / 58,400 / 14.1
8.2 / 47,100 ! 14.0
8.3 / 42,700 / 14.4
During the third run, it was obvious that conductivity was >40,000, and pH was in the low 8s,
typical of the Dissolution Surface aquifer.
