/~
~n~noun~a~n~o~~,
MAP UNIT NOTFS
MU 1 - Ustic Torriorthents -Rock outcrop complex, 30 to 70 percent
slopes. Map unit occurs on steep sideslopes of upland ridges
and benches. Torriothents are dominantly shallow to shale,
although lithic and moderately deep soils occur. Mapped at
the subgroup level due to heterogeneity of soil types. Not
sampled due to shallow depth to rock, clayey textures, and
steep slopes. Rock outcrop consists primarily of shale with
some Dakota sandstone.
M U 2 - Nihill stony loam, 25 to 70% slopes. Map unit occurs on steep
sideslopes of fans. Soil formed in alluvium high in rock frag-
ments derived from sedimentary rocks. Inclusions are 5% non-
skeletal soils and 5% moderately deep soils. Not sampled due
to high amou nts of rock fragments on the surface and throughout
the profile. Roadcuts near dam site a re representative of this unit.
MU 3 - Ascalon loam, 6 to 20% slopes. Map unit occurs on crests and
sidelopes of fans. Soil Cormed in alluvium and eolian materiels
from sedimentary rocks. Inclusions are 5% soils with very cobbly
substratums and small areas with slopes up to 50%. Soil sampled
at stop N15; topsoil stripping depth 5'+, except for areas with
cobbly substratum, then 3' depth.
MU 4 - Irock stony loam, 6 to 20% slopes. Map unit occurs on crests
• and sideslopes of fans. -Soil formed in alluvium high in rock
fragments derived from mixed sedimentary rocks. Inclusions are
5% soils with a clayey~keletal control section and small areas
of Ascalon soils. Not sampled due to high amounts of large
rock fragments on the surface and throughout the profile.
