Three permit limitation exceedences are reported for this period and two Eor the quarter.
Outfall 010 incurred a permit limitation exceedence on 3/19/98 [or the monthly average of Settleable Solids. The
outflow for this sample was dark and murky and couldn't provide a measurable flow. This site barely discharged
only once in the sampling schedule and therefore could not be sampled again to verify this atypical value. Outfall 010
typically demonstrates compliant Settleable Solids values of <0.1.
No conclusive explanation can be given for the three exceedences occurring on 3/5/98 for Outfalls 006, 009 and
Permit CO-0042161 Outfall 002. These include a Total Suspended Solids monthly average of 40 mg/L Eor Outfal1006;
a Settleable Solids monthly maximum of 14.1 mL/L/h for Outfa11009; and a %BODs removal of < 50 mg/L Eor
OucEall 002. (This is based on the ratio of an unusually low influent to a typical effluent reading.) These samples were all
received by the laboratory on the same day and all tested atypically (or their respective sites. TCC has received results
on the three Outfalls in question Eor the first week of April, 1998, which indicates all parameters are equilibrating to
amounts normally associated with these sites.
Whole Effluent Toxicity (WET) tests were performed on Outfalls 001 and 005 the week of March 9, 1998 and
OutEall 007 the week of March 24, 1998 Eor both C. drrbia and P. promelas. Outfalls 005 and 007 passed for both species
with "Concentrations with Statistically Significant Difference in Lethality" reported at > 100%. Copies of the CDPS
WET Test Report Forms for both species are included in the submittal.
Outfall 001 is usually tested by CT&E Denver, Colorado, but TCC also had Sea Crest Group Broomfield, Colorado
perform \~ET tests during the same time. CT&E failed OutEall 001 for both species with "Concentrations with
Statistically Significant Difference in Lethality" reported at 100% for C. dubia and 75%Eor P. promelas. Sea Crest
passed Outfall 001 for C. dubs with "Concentrations with Statistically Significant Difference in Lethality"
reported at > 100%. Outfa11001 failed [or P. promelas with "Concentrations with Statistically Significant Difference
in Lethality" reported at 100%. CT&E's results are reported on the DMR for consistency purposes. No accelerated
testing will be performed Eor this Outfall as per the letter dated 4/13/98 addressed to Joe Shoemaker, TCC
from Carla Lenkey, Water Quality Control Division. Copies of the CDPS WET Test Report Forms for both species
and both laboratories are included in the submittal.
All sites discharged at some point during the month except For Outfa11020 which has not yet been constructed,
so there is no discharge to enable chemical or toxicological testing to date.
