Box 2140
Meeker, Colorado 81641
Re: Hydrologic Monitoring
Meeker Area Mines
Dear Ms. Geyer:
This letter is to inform you of the Division's approval for the reduction
of hydrologic monitoring at the Northern Meeker Area Mines Complex.
For a description of specific monitoring frequencies and parameters to
be analyzed, I refer you to the attached memo of June I8, I982 from David
Craig, which you have had an opportunity to review. Based on discussions
between you and David Craig subsequent to the memo, we have decided to
eliminate the monitoring wells in the P and J seams (HRP-]A and HRJ-1)
from the program, and sulfide will be deleted from the surface water chemical
parameter List.
I will emphasize here that this approval for a reduced monitoring program
is based on the current level of intensity of your operation, which is
significantly less than the potential for the Meeker Area complex.
Consequently, any increase in mining activity at the Meeker Area complex
may require the development of a more comprehensive monitoring program.
if you have any further questions, please contact Dave Craig or me at
the Division.
Sincerely, I~` ''
Brian E.
