Description of the Operation and Reclamation--
The mining operation will be done in two phases beginning on
the west half (now pasture land) at the south end. Mining
into the hillside will create a nearly level mine floor. No
groundwater will be encountered in this dry pit, Please see
Exhibit C-3 for a graphic description of the proposed opera-
tion.
Phase 2 will begin at the fenceline presently dividing the
cropland from the pasture area. Mining will also proceed
into the hillside in a generally easterly direction. The
side slopes will be graded to 2:1 or flatter in the course
of mining.
Reclamation will be done by redistribution of the gravel la-
dened topsoil material that will have been held in temporary
storage until needed. The side slopes and mine floor will
be scarified with a chisle implement to a depth of 8 to 10
inches before topsoil is replaced to a depth of 4 to 6 inches
or more, depending on the availability when original strip-
ping is done before mining. A grass seed mixture, fertilizer
and mulching recommended in consultation with the local SCS
Office will be applied late in the fall of the year. The
site will be protected from livestock until the grass cover
is well established.
]4. Please see the enclosed map.
15. Mail all information to: Donald A.
