Description of the Operation and Reclamation-- <br />The mining operation will be done in two phases beginning on <br />the west half (now pasture land) at the south end. Mining <br />into the hillside will create a nearly level mine floor. No <br />groundwater will be encountered in this dry pit, Please see <br />Exhibit C-3 for a graphic description of the proposed opera- <br />tion. <br />Phase 2 will begin at the fenceline presently dividing the <br />cropland from the pasture area. Mining will also proceed <br />into the hillside in a generally easterly direction. The <br />side slopes will be graded to 2:1 or flatter in the course <br />of mining. <br />Reclamation will be done by redistribution of the gravel la- <br />dened topsoil material that will have been held in temporary <br />storage until needed. The side slopes and mine floor will <br />be scarified with a chisle implement to a depth of 8 to 10 <br />inches before topsoil is replaced to a depth of 4 to 6 inches <br />or more, depending on the availability when original strip- <br />ping is done before mining. A grass seed mixture, fertilizer <br />and mulching recommended in consultation with the local SCS <br />Office will be applied late in the fall of the year. The <br />site will be protected from livestock until the grass cover <br />is well established. <br />]4. Please see the enclosed map. <br />15. Mail all information to: Donald A.
