G. <br />• <br />Materials Recovered: There are no culturally diagnostic artifacts <br />among the variety of stone tools found. These include: 3 projectile point <br />or knife fragments of chert, 2 chert knives, 2 two-faced hand grinding <br />implements of sandstone, a quartzite core reutilized as a hammerstone, and <br />a few chert stone chips and retouched Slakes. <br />As noted, 200 feet uD 'the drainage Srom the upper stock tank afire <br />hearth was found eroding from the small arroyo. This fire hearth xas ~ <br />feet below the present surSace. The b1acY.ish fill {devoid oS recognizable <br />charcoal) xas cleared out and the Seature photographed (see attached <br />photograph). The sandstone slabs which outline the feature were a maximum <br />oS j$ cm, high and Dart of the fire hearth had fallen into the arroyo cut. <br /> <br /> <br />Photograph of fire hearth, Site $MF288, after removing fill material. <br />.
