7). Roads and Culverts:
County Highway 23.8 traverses Santistevan Canyon for
2.77 miles. The road is of gravel construction with
culverts for drainage control. Approximately 2,000
feet lies within the projected zone of subsidence.
There is no evidence of damage nor diminution in value
from subsidence that has already occurred from mining
NW#1 & #2 panels.
Culverts No. 142, 143, and 144 lie within the projected
zone of subsidence. There is no evidence of damage nor
diminution in value from subsidence that has already
occurred from mining NW#1 & #2 panels and none is
anticipated from future panels.
Numerous unimproved private access roads exist in the
area and are shown on the structure inventory maps. No
material damage nor diminution of value is expected.
8). Aquifers:
Within the Raton Basin, water bearing zones are
commonly associated with major coal seams, zones of
igneous or volcanic intrusion, and gravel alluvium.
There are no significant aquifers known to exist within
the affected area. No aquifers that are of beneficial
use lie within the affected area.
