999
TRAPPER ~RtNiNG zNC.
July 14, 1999
CERTIFIED NZ 404 219 664 RECEIVED
JUL 191999
Division of Minerals 8 Geobijy
Ms. Carla Lenkey
Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment
WQCD-PE-B2
4300 Cherry Creek Dr. South
Denver, CO 80222-1530
Subject: Second Quarter 1999 Colorado Wastewater.Discliarge Monitoring Reports,
Permit No. CO-0032115
Dear Ms. lenkey:
Enclosed are Trapper Mine's Second Quarter 1999 Colorado Wastewater Discharge
Monitoring Reports for the period 4/1199-6/30/99. During this quarter, five NPDES outfalls
were active. Outfalls 001, 002, and 011, discharged routinely throughout the quarter.
Outfalls 013 and 017 discharged during the last week in April in response to snowmelt and
precipitation events. Outfalls 003, 005, 006, 008, 009, 010, 012, 014, 015, 016, 019 and 020
did not dischazge during the quarter. Values reported on the enclosed DMR's represent the
maximum (or minimum as applicable) monthly values generated at each outfall during the
quarter.
Also enclosed are monthly NOAA weather summaries for the reporting period, seep volume
data for site 011, and WET test report forms as applicable. Three outfalls were sampled for
WET analyses during the reporting period. Two species tests were completed at outfalls 001
and 011 while a single species test (P. promelas) was completed at outfall 002. No
exceedences of WET test limitations were observed at any of the outfalls.
Two exceedences of primary effluent limitations aze noted as follows, however, in both
instances, alternate limitations are applicable as runoff was attributable to either snowmelt
and/or precipitation. At outfall 013, the primary 30-day average limitation for TSS was
exceeded by a sample collected 4/27/99 (56 mg/1). At outfall 017, the primary 30-day average
limitation for TSS was also exceeded by a sample collected 4/27/99 (40 mg/I). However, in
both instances, the alternate daily maximum limitation for settleable solids applicable in the
event of discharge caused by precipitation less than or equal to the 10-year, 24-how
precipitation event, was met. As noted on the enclosed monthly NOAA weather summary for
P.O. Box 187 Craig, Colorado 81626 (970) 824-4401
