Structure. This location is on the downdip side of a sharp
• ridge that is held up by sandstone. Rocks are at N80W, 19° NE
based on a field-measured dip about 200 feet west of the area.
To~ograohv and Drainage. The long, approximately east-west,
orientation of the area is parallel to sub-parallel to the
topography on a 22.5% (4.4:1) slope. The site is about 15 to 50
feet above a major drainage to the north.
Comments and Evaluation. This area is on a slope above a
major ephemeral stream course. Keyways or benches to stabilize the
topsoil should be oriented essentially parallel to the contour and
should be graded to allow drainage from the subsurface under the
topsoil.
4.4.5 Stockpile Area E. This area includes about three acres and
• is oriented essentially east-west, in the NE;, se c. 17 about 900
feet southeast of Area D, and on th e backslope of the same ridge.
Rock Tvpe. The predominant rock type is sandstone.
Structure. Strike and dip of the ridge on which this site is
located is about N60W, 26° NE.
Tooograohv and Drainage. The east-west orientation of the
site is parallel to sub-parallel to the topography on a 21% (4.8:1)
slope and is over 170 feet above a major ephemeral drainage.
Comments and Evaluation. This area is partly along the crest
of a prominent ridge upheld by resistant sandstone. Keyways or
benches to stabilize the topsoil should be cut generally parallel
to the topography and should be graded to allow subsurface drainage
• under the topsoil.
31
