not been determined by the time field work was undertaken. As a
result these areas were not specifically examined, although in •
traversing throughout the project all but Areas E and G were
observed. Geologic and related factors that could affect these
stockpile areas are underlying rock type and surficial material,
structure of the bedrock, and topography and drainage. The
evaluation of these factors and certain others establish the
feasibility of the proposed stockpile areas.
Acreage determinations were made by electronic planimeter for
each stockpile area. These determinations are rounded to the
nearest half acre.
4.4.1 Stockpile Area A. This area is in the north-central part of
sec. 8, just north of the sedimentation pond, and includes about
2.5 acres. •
Rock Type. The site is underlain primarily by shale bedrock,
although it is doubtful that site preparation will encounter
bedrock.
Structure. This location is midway between the axes of Fish
Creek anticline on the west and the unnamed syncline on the east.
Structure is not anticipated to have an adverse effect on the
stockpile.
Topography and Drainage. This area is on a topographic slope
above the left abutment of the embankment.
Comments and Evaluation. It is unlikely that bedrock will be
encountered in preparing the stockpile site. If trenches or
keyways are cut to maintain stability of the stockpile they should
be oriented northeast-southwest essentially parallel to the •
28
